About Dylan Wilson Weddings:

Dylan Wilson Weddings provides high end wedding photography in a photojournalistic style to couples in Savannah, Hilton Head, Charleston, or anywhere else in the world.

My name is Dylan Wilson, and I am a photographer originally from Athens, Georgia. After working in New York City, I have recently relocated to Savannah, Georgia. I graduated from the University of Georgia’s esteemed Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication with a degree in photojournalism and film studies, and since 2005 I have worked as a professional photojournalist throughout the East Coast.

My photographic journey began in high school where I was the chief photographer for the school’s yearbook. Later, I worked for The Telegraph in Macon, Georgia; Patuxent Publishing Company in Columbia, Maryland and the New York Post in New York, New York.

My work has appeared in the New York Post, The Newark Star Ledger and The Washington Times, and my wedding photos have been featured in New York Magazine’s special New York Weddings issue.

During my time in New York, I discovered that my true passion lay in taking wedding pictures. So many memories are created on a wedding day – from the first time a groom sees his bride to the first kiss between husband and wife and a father’s dance with his daughter for the “last time,” every wedding is full of memories that will last a lifetime. I believe that there is real beauty in all of the moments, no matter how big or how small, and the story, both the scripted and unscripted parts, which plays out over the course of the day. Providing a gift that will last forever, and to do so in a way that is artful and creative, is something that I take great pride in and find incredibly rewarding.

I understand the needs and wants of a bride and groom. I have worked closely with hundreds of couples. My laid-back style and keen eye for photography helps me to create perfect pictures for each couple. By combining my style as a photojournalist with traditional weddings photographs, I bring a fresh, candid look to your wedding.

Dylan Wilson Weddings offers a unique photography package to each and every couple. I understand that each couple is different, so I want to spend time discovering what you want for your special day.I am based in Savannah, Georgia but am willing to travel anywhere for your special day.

Savannah Wedding Photographer: Rachel and Bob

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Rachel and Bob’s Savannah wedding. This couple, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, chose the Mansion on Forsyth Park to be the backdrop for their big day. Around two dozen close friends and family made the trip South, and the result was an incredibly intimate and personal wedding day.

Rachel and Bob’s ceremony took place under a chandelier in the court yard. Afterwards, we explored Forsyth Park and Savannah’s historic downtown before we moved back into the Mansion and the reception dinner in the wine cellar.

Everything was so beautiful, and I had a blast photographing everyone in the laid back atmosphere.

Savannah is so lucky to have such great wedding vendors, and Rachel and Bob chose some of the best!

Nicole and Jamie were married in a beautiful, intimate ceremony at the Bethesda Home for Boys’ Whitfield Chapel. I was so honored to be a part of their wedding.

Bethesda and its grounds are amazing. Everywhere you look, Spanish Moss is falling from the trees. It’s nearly impossible to take a bad picture. I absolutely love it!

For her Savannah elopement, Nicole put together a great team of vendors – may of whom, I am lucky enough to call my friends.

Venue – Bethesda Home for Boys

Makeup – Dollface by Jules

Flowers – Kiwi Fleur

Cake – Rum Runners

Reception – The President’s Quarter’s Inn

Music – Nancy Vogelsang

Here’s one frame from Matt and Ellen’s Savannah elopement. This super sweet couple drove all the way to Savannah from Missouri just to get married. I guess if your relationship can survive being in the car with another person for that length of time, it can survive anything!

Just kidding! Matt and Ellen were great to work with though, and I wish them all the best of luck in the future!

Congrats guys!!

Special thanks to the Rev. Steve Schulte and the Marshall House.

I am so sorry. My poor, poor blog has been so neglected.

BUT, fear not! I have been super busy this summer photographing weddings all over Savannah and Hilton Head. It’s been a very exciting time.

Savannah Wedding Photographer

So let’s start with Katherine and Chris. This amazing couple from Orlando had an outdoor ceremony in Warren Square right in the heart of downtown Savannah. The skies were threatening,  but the rain held off and we were all blessed with a beautiful afternoon.

Afterwards, the party moved a few blocks down Congress Street to Garibaldi’s.

I had a wonderful time. Katherine and Chris are such great people, and they really made my job an absolute joy!

We were also lucky to have Steve Schulte officiate the ceremony. He really is a rock star when it comes to Savannah weddings!

Charleston Engagement Photography: Kristen & Chris

March 24th, 2011

Charleston Wedding Photographer

This weekend, I traveled a short way up Highway 17 to Charleston, South Carolina to photograph Kristen and Chris. The couple, who now live in Athens, GA (my hometown!!!!) met while attending school at the College of Charleston. Their wedding, which is later this year, will also be in downtown Charleston.

Charleston Photographer

The College of Charleston campus is almost as beautiful as the women who attend school there (It's a goldmine guys!!! 70/30 ratio!!!).

I’ve only been to Charleston a few times, but in all honesty, those were mostly eating trips (mmm…oysters). So I had never seen most of the touristy, but nonetheless, beautiful spots.

Charleston Engagement Photographer

We were blessed with a gorgeous, sunny day, and we explored the area around the Battery (where Chris proposed) and the College of Charleston campus.

Kristen and Chris stayed at Two Meeting Street Inn the night they were engaged, so we had to sneak in for a few quick photos!

Eagle-eyed Kristen pointed out this shadow. Do I have some competition???

I had an amazing time discovering all of the cool things that Charleston has to offer. I really can’t wait to go back (no one tell Savannah!!!).

Congratulations Kristen and Chris. I’m so excited for you guys!

Savannah Wedding Photography: Matthew & Leah’s Engagement Session

March 5th, 2011

A while back, I donated an engagement session to South Magazine’s 5th anniversary silent auction. I love doing things like this because all of the money goes to a good cause, and secondly, I have no idea who I will get to photograph! In this case, it was the amazing couple Matthew and Leah.

We spent some time walking around Savannah’s historic district and getting to know each other. Downtown Savannah has so many beautiful backdrops, and you never know what  you will find just around the next corner. We hit all of the well known spots – the Forsyth Park fountain, the Mercer House, and Jones Street – as well as a few hidden gems.

Savannah Wedding Photographers

Congratulations Matthew and Leah! I had a great time meeting and photographing you, and I am honored to have been able to be a small part of your wedding preparations!

Savannah & Hilton Head Wedding Photography: My favorite photos of 2010

January 20th, 2011

Savannah & Hilton Head Wedding Photographer

2010 was an insanely busy year for me. I moved from Brooklyn, New York and began photographing weddings in an entirely new town – Savannah, Georgia. There were lots of ups and downs along the way but reflecting on it now, I’m awfully proud and happy with the images that I made this year. Sticking with my philosophy of capturing real emotions and moments as they happen, rather than manufacturing them, and focusing on the details of the wedding day, I had a great year.

So, it’s a few weeks late, but here I present my favorite wedding images of 2010 and the stories behind them…

Savannah & Hilton Head Wedding Photographer

I blogged about Tori and Remi’s wedding back in October. This group of ridiculously talented dancers performed a spot on version of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ dance during their reception. As you can tell everyone (including Tori in her beautiful Vera Wang gown) was totally in to it. The dance number features a number of iconic poses, and I made sure to position myself in a spot where I could get a nice, wide-angle, shot of both the bride and her back up dancers. The rest was just timing. But a little bit of luck probably didn’t hurt!

Savannah & Hilton Head Wedding Photographer

Shannon and Matt were married in Forsyth Park this June. It was a really, really hot day. But the shade from the enormous trees and the beauty of the fountain in the park quickly cooled things down (a little). I wanted to make an image that showed not only Shannon and Matt in front of the fountain as they said their vows but also showed their guests and provided a little scale. Using a super telephoto lens (300mm) I made this photo that, I think, captures the scene really well.

This is a really simple, but I think beautiful detail image. Suzanne and Jay eloped to Savannah in October. Their flowers, put together by Kiwi Fleur, were stunning. The speckled light of Jones Street does the rest.

Savannah & Hilton Head Wedding Photographer

I photographed Kelly and Wai’s Rhode Island wedding in September. A series of hurricanes disrupted some of the planned events, but the weather for the actual wedding day was absolutely flawless. The wedding took place at the Castle Hill Inn in Newport which offers amazing views of the ocean.

For their first look, Kelly braved a narrow path to a spot on a cliff jutting out into the sea where Wai was anxiously awaiting. All of her daring paid off in a series of really beautiful pictures. This image, in particular, stood out to me. They just look so in love.

Kids photograph so well. They are just too cute. As this flower girl wandered down the aisle at Michelle and Josh’s wedding (with a little parental help), I knew I had captured a great moment. The gorgeous light from the setting sun just makes it all the more special.

Savannah & Hilton Head Wedding Photographers

This image, also from Michelle and Josh’s wedding shows the power of the small details during your wedding day. While the flowers by themselves are pretty, the lace gloves (all of the bridesmaids wore different ones) really make this picture unique.

In closing, I really like this picture from Jay and Suzanne’s elopement. Arm-in-arm they are stepping into a new life together.

Savannah Wedding Photography: Tori and Remi

October 24th, 2010

I recently photographed Tori and Remi’s wedding along with Misty DeBlasio. This super fun and energetic couple were married at the First Christian Church in Savannah and had their reception at the Savannah Convention Center in downtown.

Remi busts out some break dancing moves during the reception.

Tori looked stunning in her Vera Wang wedding gown.

The Custom Cakes wedding cake looked amazing (and delicious!!).

The wedding party staged a huge choreographed dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller.

The Savannah Convention Center offers stunning views of downtown Savannah from across the river.

Tori and Remi are an awesome couple, and I couldn’t be more honored to have been able to help document their wedding day. Best of luck in Los Angeles guys and congratulations!

Savannah Wedding Photography: Suzanne and Jay’s Wedding

October 10th, 2010

Fall in Savannah has, so far, been kind of amazing. Temperatures have fallen. There’s a little breeze. And the mosquitoes have magically disappeared (migrated???). Suzanne and Jay took advantage of all of this, and traveled from Boston to be married. The day could not have been more perfect.

Suzanne looked beautiful in her dress. In the background is the Mansion on Forsyth Park where the couple stayed.

We wandered the streets of downtown Savannah for a while and found tons of interesting locations for photos.

The flowers, by Kiwi Fleur, were spectacular.

So I know that I've made this photo before, but the Spanish moss and red bricks of Jones Street are too good to pass up.

The ceremony took place in Whitfield Square downtown. Reverend Schulte officiated.

They do!!!

After the ceremony, they shared a really romantic first dance in the gazebo.

I had a wonderful time. Congratulations guys! Thanks so much for allowing me to a part of your special day!

Be sure to check out more of my Savannah wedding photography on my website!
